Simply Made Sunday--Muddy Buddies

This week was "muddy buddy" snack fun!

We used to call this snack "puppy chow" but since we currently have a puppy, that name doesn't appeal to me anymore.
Muddy Buddies

9 cups Corn Chex

1 cup milk chocolate chips

1/2 cup peanut butter

1/4 cup butter

1 tsp. vanilla

1 1/2 cups powdered sugar

Measure out 9 cups of Corn Chex and set aside in a large bowl.
I prefer Corn Chex because I think they don't break while stirring as easily as the other varieties, but you can use any Chex cereal.
Add 1 cup of milk chocolate chips with
1/4 butter and 1/2 cup peanut butter in a microwave proof bowl.
Microwave on high for 1 minute.
stir

If this is not completely melted, return to microwave and cook on high for 30 more seconds.
When melted add 1 tsp. vanilla and stir well.
Add this chocolate mixture to the Chex and stir carefully, trying not to crush the cereal.
stir
What is Luke thinking?
Still thinking
Add about 1 cup of powdered sugar to a large ziploc bag. Spoon about half of the Chex into the bag of sugar.
Shake to coat the cereal with sugar.
Do the same with the remaining Chex.
Time to lick the bowl!
We put all the "Muddy Buddies" in a big baking pan to let the chocolate harden a little bit, although ours doesn't seem to harden before it is eaten.

We make this, too. We call it Monkey Munch. We have added other stuff to it before, which is yummy. Raisins, nuts, peanut M&Ms, etc
