Moving on to the Monarch Butterflies

Our frogs have gone free so now is the time to send children out into the fields to find monarch butterfly eggs. Today Mark, Grace, Amy, Laura, and Becky headed out and found 4 butterfly eggs among the milkweed. Check out the size of the egg compared to the veins in the milkweed leaf. These kids have very good eyes.

Mark spotted the only hatched caterpillar. It is not much bigger than the egg it came out of.

Mark and Grace made journals today that they can record their nature observations in. These will become their "Nature Notebooks."

You guys have good eyesight. All I found was caterpillers, no eggs. They are too small for my old eyes. Is my sunflowere house ready for me to move into yet?

Mrs. Kraeger,
You will fit in our sunflower house now... but there are no flowers yet.
