Three Cheers For the Red-White and Blue

To help us celebrate Flag Day today, we enjoyed a packet of information from CurrClick and Homeschool bits. I love these low priced printable downloads for last minute activities that all the kids enjoy.
While we colored we listened to our favorite patriotic songs included in the Wee Sing America book and cd.

Gracie made us a flag with Luke's Design and Drill toy.

She was very proud of her work!

Check out Kimberly's feet---we marched and marched to our music in a little "homemade" parade.

When I See an Eagle

When I see an eagle,

I see a great nation which has been founded on the principles of

equality and freedom for all.

When I see an eagle,

I see our flag flying high.

I see happy children playing and smiling and laughing and singing.

When I see an eagle,

I see a melting pot of blacks and Hispanics, Italians and Indians, Native American and Irish which make up our country.

When I see an eagle,

I see no more bondage,no more terrorism, ethnocentrism, racism, and hate.

When I see an eagle,

I see our troops fighting for what is right, fighting to keep us free.

When I see an eagle,

I see America standing tall and strong and proud behind her servicemen and women.

When I see an eagle,

I salute and say a silent prayer of thanks for the troops who protect us.

Happy Saint Patrick's Day

We started Saint Patrick's Day with our favorite book- Patrick:Patron Saint of Ireland- by Tomie dePaola. It just wouldn't be a Saint Patrick's Day if we didn't read this.

A few days ago we started on some crafts for the day. We made three hearts and formed them into a shamrock, and just as the legend goes, we discussed the Blessed Trinity, and wrote The Father-The Son-and The Holy Spirit on each leaf of the of the shamrock.

We arranged our shamrocks around a old Irish Blessing that I had printed. I found a lovely coloring picture of Saint Patrick here.
We watched our favorite video-many, many times, thanks to our friend Anne. I searched around and found our "shamrock name mobiles"-uh-oh- I need to make one for Kim and then I can put up the whole family.
Becky made some yummy greeen sugar cookies last night- and hopefully- there will be enough for tonight after a dinner of cornbeef and cabbage!

Happy Valentine's Day

I hope everyone had a wonderful Valentine's Day.

My super husband took me out to dinner tonight, and when we got home I had these beautiful flowers waiting.
