What came off the needles today....

I signed up to make a Christmas stocking for a 2 year old girl through the Pink Slipper Project's Stocking Challenge.
I made a "rag stocking" last week and am now making things to fill it.
The stocking is for a 2 year old spending Christmas in a shelter for women and children.
I have made slippers for The Pink slipper project but this is a first time that I have made and filled a stocking.
This bear was so easy!!
The pattern can be found at Bev's County Cottage charity website.
Kimberly is excited for the little girl who will be receiving this "buddy bear" and she can't wait to pack and send out the box.
Here is the stocking that I sewed----I still have to add a ribbon for hanging the stocking. Other than that, it is all ready to ship out!
I know the Pink Slipper Project has a couple more children waiting to be sponsored.
If you have a little extra time, this is a great project to join!

The North Wind Doth Blow....

The North wind doth blow and we shall have snow,
And what will poor robin do then, poor thing?
He'll sit in a barn and keep himself warm
and hide his head under his wing, poor thing

My Newest 15 year old---Makes My Monday

My beautiful new 15 year old Makes My Monday.

Happy Birthday, Laura!!!

We are so proud of the beautiful young woman you have become!!!

We love you!!

Macro Monday-November Landscape

I love the landscape of November.
Sometimes here in rural New York we have snow of the ground that doesn't melt until April, but this year we have been blessed with a glorious Indian Summer
with the temperatures reaching into the 5o's.
(Of course snow is heading our way during this coming week)
Above, the milk weed is giving a marvelous lesson on seed dispersal.
On a walk out in the back fields, I found a small bush containing a few living remaining summery blossoms.
The bees were so happy--there had to be at least thirty bees swarming the 20 blossoms holding out against the freezing temperatures we are having during the nights.

God's creations continue to amaze me---especially when you contemplate these creations "up close".
A dandelion viewed from the front.
The same dandelion viewed from the back....I love this view.

What's come off the needles lately.....

A baby set, awaiting a baby to boy to be cuddled within the stiches.

L.E.N.S. Photo Challenge--Capture the Ordinary

"The theme this week is "Capture the Ordinary". I thought we'd take a break from a specific challenge, and ask for a photo that captured an ordinary moment in your homeschool or family week. One of those moments you are so thankful to savor, but that is not marked by anything out of the ordinary, one of those moments that make up the wonderfulness of family life."

Exploring an Indian Summer November Afternoon In the Backyard

Full Disclosure

To make sure I adhere to full disclosure on this blog---the "current read aloud" book on the right sidebar is now the "current listen aloud" book.

Oh well, I try my best....I am just getting tired!

A Handful of Wishes

{this moment}

{this moment} - A Friday ritual. A single photo - no words - capturing a moment from the week. A simple, special, extraordinary moment. A moment I want to pause, savor and remember. If you're inspired to do the same, leave a link to your 'moment' in the comments at Soulemama for all to find and see
