Small Successes--Faith and Family Live

FaithButton

I haven't shared any Small Successes because it nevers seems that is accomplish anything worthy of posting. But here I am, trying my best, to see the Small successes during my day to day life.

Faith and Family says: "It’s important for moms to recognize that all the small successes in our days can add up to one big triumph. So on Thursday of each week, we do exactly that."
So, here it goes:
1. I finished a "pay it forward" knitting project.....cozy and warm, perfect for January. I will get it mailed out tomorrow.

2. I cut two little girls' bangs, and they came outstraight and not too short....this would fall under BIG successes for me. I was so scared to cut thier hair, I haven't done it in many years, but I concurred the fear and found success.

3. For 4 days in a row, all assignments in the kids agenda's have been checked off....completed!!We have also kept up with all the read aloud's we are reading...hip, hip hooray!!

Small Successes

"It's important for moms to recognize that all the small successes in our days can add up to one big triumph." Danielle Bean
1. Our school year has begun, and we had a very successfull first week. It was a light week of schoolwork, but was perfect for a new beginning!
2. We made a tornado bottle. I have been looking for a tornado tube, and finally found one at the science museum we visited last week. You can see Dan using the tornado bottle below.
3. The kids learned a very important lesson as we honored a fallen hero this past week. This is the first time a local soldier has lost his life for our country, and it has deeply affected our small community.

Small Successes

1. We all made it through 3 performances of this year's Holy Cross Academy's musical, My Fair Lady. This is a big, big success---but a very important one, because we were having our doubts about getting through it.
2. I took the best photograph that I think I have ever taken.
3. The bird feeders are all set up, filled, and being enjoyed by one and all.

Small Successes

1. I cleaned up a very large pile of accumulated "stuff" from next to the refrigerator. Doing this made a great spot to put Dudley's cage--he is now out of the living room!

2. I managed to somewhat feed my family while in the middle to 2-8pm drama rehearsal, 5 o'clock softball practices, 6 o'clock baseball games, religon classes and comfirmation classes, and 3 full time jobs, all with one usuable vehicle--usually meals were "free for alls", but at least it was food.

3. It has been ever so long since I baked anything--this job has been transferred to the big girls---but yesterday, using Grandma's fresh picked rhubarb, I made 2 very yummy rhubard custard pies.

Smal Successes

"It’s important for moms to recognize that all the small successes in our days can add up to one big triumph." Danielle Bean

This week's Small Successes are not so much thing I did--but more like "things I made it through"
1. Yucky, yucky sickies have invaded the house. 4 down, a bunch more to go. It is a 48 hour bug that returns if you try to do anything too soon, like stand up.
2. Between sickness there were three ball games and daily musical practice, religon class, a raffle party the Pat emcees', 2 full time workers, all with 1 working vehicle. (Although I did call for help from Grandma and big brother when a few times someone was "left behind" waiting for a ride somewhere.
3. Laundry continues non-stop--especially when sickness is around--if not, we are in BIG trouble.
I need to add #4
I made and sent out a few surprises this week, all for the love of Our Blessed Mother.

1. I taught this very cute three year old and
and this very cute two year old how to blow bubbles.

2. I managed to get a reasonable amount of schoolwork done this week in the mornings, while still being able to enjoy the beautiful weather that God has given us in the afternoons.

3. As a family, we have successfully prayed the Divine Mercy Chaplet Novena every day so far. This is not a small success, but a very important success that I beg everyone to join.

1. Spent the last quarter of the movie Escape to Witch Mountain in the lobby of the theater with a scared 7 year old.

2. I plugged away with schoolwork--with many breaks to enjoy the springtime weather.

3. Sewed Gracie a twirly skirt for springtime--I had been putting it off way too long--it turned out so cute, I am sorry I didn't get to it sooner.

Small Successes-Vol. 9

"It’s important for moms to recognize that all the small successes in our days can add up to one big triumph. So on Thursday of each week, we do exactly that."Danelle Bean

1. I cleaned up the big pile of books, coats, hats, mittens and more books from in front of the sliding door in the dining room. We are now able to open up the door and let the fresh air into the house, but only when the temperature gets out of the 30's.

2. I took 5 kids and a reluctant husband to the nearby state park and had a wonderful time enjoying the sunshine and "warmth".

3. I really felt a mother's pride when my 9 year old corrected his youth group teacher when she said that Saint Patrick was from Ireland. He continued on and gave the complete biography of Saint Patrick, as only a very Irish 9 year old can.

" It’s important for moms to recognize that all the small successes in our days can add up to one big triumph. So on Thursday of each week, we do exactly that. "-Danielle Bean

It is already Thursday again, so it is time to tell everyone about this weeks "Small Successes"

1. I got everyone outside yesterday into the sunshine and 50 degree temperatures. I am really glad I did too, because today it is snowing the temps aren't supposed to get above 30.

2. Everyone ate food this week-that's about all I can say about that.

3. We have almost become used to the time change. And we did make it to early church on Sunday morning-on time-even with losing an hour of sleep--this definitely qualifies as a BIG success.

Make sure to share your Small Successes with us all today. I would love to be encouraged by others just trying to do their best.

Small Successes-7

1. I got up at 6 am for six out of seven days this week. I love the "discovered" quiet time I have begun to enjoy.
2. Some sewing was completed this week. Just 2 t-shirts for the little girls, I am usually farther along with spring sewing, but at least this is a start.
3. My weekly successes always seem to include something from the laundry front-this week I kept clean towels in the closet all week. This means Daddy didn't have to rummage in the basement clean laundry at 4 am before his shower.

Small Successes-6

"It’s important for moms to recognize that all the small successes in our days can add up to one big triumph. So on Thursday of each week, we do exactly that."

1. We have completed everything written in the school-work planners for the past three days. This is a success because this is the first week we have used a planner in years--we are more like the "fly by the seat of your pants schoolers," but I have realized that right now in our lives we need something written down to be accountable for.

2. I have put this computer down (it's a laptop) much more often, to be more easily accessible to my family.

3. I have found a book-for quiet meditation-to enjoy this Lent. This is probably a big success since I haven't read a book beyond "school" books for months. I am sinking my teeth into The Gift of Faith.

Small Successes-5-Or Not

"It’s important for moms to recognize that all the small successes in our days can add up to one big triumph."
But, what if you can't think of 3 small successes for the week. Let me tell you, it is very, VERY depressing!!
A whole week
I think back and I try.
1. I took one child for medical tests, is a nervous state myself, and probably didn't even provide the proper "mother" comfort for the teenager. But the testing was done and now we wait, and I will try to be very consious of this child's needs.
2. We are living in the midst of a big, BIG case of cabin fever! I would love to loan our the children to others for the next month and a half of snow and 2o degree temperatures--this may be a SUCCESS though, because they are still with me.
3. In past weeks I was proud of the fact that 4 or 5 loads of laundry were completed everyday, keeping the pleas for clean towels at bay, but this week, I haven't been as successful. I did delegate laundry to teenagers telling them "just make sure not to wash anything red and check the pockets for money and chapstick." This may be considered a success because NO chapstick was washed and the laudry IS NOT pink.( Don't know about the money though, because the clothes washer gets to keep "found" money.) Thank's to all my wonderful resident teenagers. You are true blessings to this family!!
Now, as I am mired in depression and low self-esteem, visit other folks' Small Successes and see how others have done this past week. I guarantee you will find more inspiration over there.

Small Successes-4

"It’s important for moms to recognize that all the small successes in our days can add up to one big triumph."
1. 5 nights out 0f 7 I made sure we had a real, tasty meal, instead of calling for a "free for all".
2. Got the Valentine's Day's books read, crafts made and cards ready, BEFORE the actual day.
3. I tried to be very consious of listening to the kids this week. I tried to stop what I was doing and then look at the child, consentrating on what they were saying as I looked into their eyes.

Small Successes-3

"It’s important for moms to recognize that all the small successes in our days can add up to one big triumph." Danielle Bean

1. I got the 3 youngest children out into the snow to play, even though it was 19 degrees and the snow was so deep the two youngest couldn't walk through it. The snow clothes then immediately got dried, to be ready for another day!

2. Laundry was kept washed (although not folded-I will work on this for next week) and we had clean towels every morning for everyone. Not a small feat for this family of 12.

3. My newest reader, whom I taught after a long struggle, is really, really enjoying reading on his own. For us, this falls into the BIG SUCCESSES catergory!
Make sure t0 check out all the Small Successes on the Faith and Family website this week.

Small Successes

1. I have had so much fun this week joining in Operation Playtime. These activities provided many fun family memories that we will always cherish.

2. I fit a reasonable amount of schoolwork in around "real life".

3. My "baby" started sleeping in her first "big girl" bed, and we managed to keep her in it 2 nights (out of 5). The other nights she was happily snuggled between mommy and daddy.

Small Successes

"It’s important for moms to recognize that all the small successes in our days can add up to one big triumph. So let’s do that." Danielle Bean written at Faith and Family Live
Faith and Family Live has begun sponsoring a weekly event highlighting the importance of our daily triumphs!Bis or small, but as we usually find out, the small greatly outnumber the large.
My Small Successes this week were:
1. Spending an afternoon at Chuck E Cheese for my 9 year olds birthday, and managing to still be smiling after 3 hours. (This might fall under a "big" success.)
2. Made a carrot cake for the family, who were pleased that we weren't taking it anywhere.
3. Finished knitting a baby blanket-which has been mailed out-and is a secret--SSSHHHH!
This is a very interesting thing to think about-our daily "small successes". It is important to focus on these successes occasionally so this world doesn't manage to beat us down.
