Today we did a little bit of 4th of July baking.
First we made rice krispie treats decorated with blue and red mini m&m's.
I love the fact that regular milk chocolate M&M's come in the "mini" size. The only trouble was that we had to pick all the red and blue candy out of the package....although the kids did get to eat the other colors.
The night before last, Laura mixed up a batch of our favorite sugar cookie dough.
She divided the dough into thirds and then colored two of the "dough balls" red and blue.
We left it in the refrigerator over night. This morning we rolled each colored dough into long "snakes".
We then twisted the colors together.
After it was twisted together, Laura cut slices off the strip of dough
Place on a cookie sheet and sprinkle with sugar.
Bake according to your recipe.
Cookies...all ready for the 4th of July festivities.
