Yarn Along...
From Ginny Two of my favorite things are knitting and reading and I love sharing my projects and current reads here. I would love for you to join me every Wednesday to share a single photo of what you are knitting (or crocheting) and reading too!
It's winter hat season....I made these rolled brimmed hats, making up my own pattern as I went along..I think they turned out cute!
I picked up this new book today at the library..The Immortal Nicholas--by Glenn Beck.
The librarian told me they just put it in the library system and she wants me to read it so she can give my recommendation to people...It's great to be a regular at the library!
Now head over to Ginny's blog and check out everyone's great work.

Google Eyes---Boo!!
Kim and Luke made very cute Halloween picture frames for about $4 for both....you can't beat that!
We got the wooden, unfinished frames at The Dollar Store.
We had the paint...Kimberly painted her frame orange...
Luke picked black for his frame.
I did buy wooden letters at Walmart.
Luke painted his letters with orange and black....you can't see the black letter on the black frame, but I couldn't talk him out of this choice. (He did put google eyes on the black eye to help it show up)
Go to town and glue google eyes everywhere....we also had these already....What crafty house doesn't have google eyes?
I think they are so cute!!! The frames are cute, too!
I simple printed out pictures of the kids onto cardstock....we didn't have any photo paper, but you can't even tell the difference.
BOO!!!

Released Back to the Wild
A couple of weeks ago Grandpa caught the kids this little Dakay Brown Snake.
We investigated and it is supposed to be one of the best snakes to keep as a pet.
It is easily kept in a ten gallon fish tank....
Mark went on to find 2 others...it seemed they had a den in a hole in the floor of Grandpa's garage.
The boys made a wonderful habitat for them, did their research and found them food.
But our little snakes wouldn't eat, so we decided that they had better go back to their den to hibernate for the winter.
So back to the garage they went....
Luke was not happy about letting his little friend go. But he did the brave thing and set it free.
Right back to the den..
And away they went.....I'm sure they are happy to be home, and the boys can hopefully keep an eye out and find them in the spring.

The Summer of the Bean Tepee
To say our bean and morning glory tepee was a success would be an understatement.
It was wonderful...and fun....and even beautiful.
May 3---Danny helped us construct our tepee. This was our first attempt at this type of growing project...I had high hopes but was a little worried about the results.
Would it succeed??
Luke digging a trench for the seeds...
We wrapped the tepee with twine..and then planted pole bean seeds and morning glory seeds.
The final step on May 3 was protecting the whole thing from the critters.
May 9th. We have seedlings....everyday we saw new little plants starting to grow.
June-20...It was slow going at the beginning. Every day we would help wrap the vines around each other and around the vines and poles.
July-6....look at those bean blossoms.
July-10th A great place for meditation, especially
when the Morning Glories began to blossom.
July 23th....Luke is pointing at the first of the little tiny beans.
August 23....One month later...it had exploded with beans and flowers!!!
By October 15th the kids didn't fit in the tepee
3 days later...October 18 we had out first snowflakes and our first well below freezing temperatures.
The mums survived...but these were the only plants that did.
It was a great run...but the Jack Frost won.

Birthday Buddies and Hobbit birthdays
Today Dan turned 23 years old....
A blast from the past...
Dan's a turtle!
Blow, Dan blow....
Of course, 23 years ago, Becky got Danny as a birthday present...a third brother was NOT what she wanted...but thankfully, she likes him now and happily shares birthday parties.
Becky turns 27 tomorrow.
She is still a beauty...
You can do it!!!
In Hobbit tradition, Dan bought everyone gifts for his birthday.
I think the kids could get used to this tradition, especially since there are so many birthdays throughout the year.
Kim has creepy eyes....
Dan signed all the books, making them all very special
The gift of books also made for a quiet birthday night.
